Mulled wine is not my favourite thing, and I notice that its not on Mary Poppins’ list either, but it is festive and combined with a shepherd’s hut and a wood burning stove it becomes hard to resist even for me.
Ingredients: Red wine! Obviously not your very best but not your worst and nothing too sweet; an orange, cinnamon stick, bay leaves, nutmeg and slow gin.
- Combine the wine with the sliced orange, bay leaves, cinnamon stick and some grated nutmeg.
- Warm gently for about 20 minutes
- Add about half a glass of sloe gin and serve
- Place your glasses on the stove top or close to the stove to keep your drink at optimal temperature.
If you are drinking this without a shepherd’s hut and a woodburning stove then drink a toast to next year and make a resolution that this time next year……..
