About

Let me introduce myself: I am Cath Caesar. I am married to Ian, an engineer, and have 3 children, all grown up and, for the most part, independent.

We live in Wiltshire on Salisbury Plain (hence ‘plain’ huts) in a house that we pretty much built ourselves. It was a two bedroom bungalow ‘with potential’ when we took it on and now it has, I believe, fulfilled its potential.

I have taught Design and Technology in a variety of schools for over 20 years. Ian served in the RAF and so we moved around and my teaching worked around the demands of children and various postings.

Over the years, there have been a number of plans hatching in my head but they never saw the light of day. Plain Huts is the exception to the rule. I have given up work as a teacher and thrown myself into setting up a business, designing, making and selling Shepherd’s Huts.

After years of teaching design, I am finally putting into practice what I taught and I’m loving it!

Plain Huts is not just any old business, but a family business! Let me introduce you…

My husband Ian oversees the construction of the huts.

My son-in-law Ben “gets stuff done” and shares his knowledge of running a business.

My daughter Heather is “into” marketing and has made me embrace Facebook and Twitter.

Chris, my eldest son, designed the logo.

Jack, my youngest, drew up the plans using CAD.

My sister Jo takes the lovely photos you see.
